Google's Playful Expansion: Embracing Kennywood's Joy with Innovative Workspaces

After settling into Strada-designed offices on the upper floors of a former Nabisco factory, Google engaged Strada again to design their expansion into the building’s 5th floor.

Google employees in Pittsburgh now have meeting rooms, work areas, and snack spaces on this level. The company famously encourages fun and relaxation, incorporating a circular Think Pit, a refuge for conversation or napping; an oversized toy abacus; and a wellness and massage area. The aesthetic touchstone for the overall project—an iconic local theme park called Kennywood—is heralded by a life-size roller coaster replica at the stairway down to the 5th floor. Strada went on to design a third phase of office expansion for Google Pittsburgh.
