transforming a brutalist commons into a softer, warmer place for students

With the anticipated renovation to the adjacent Hillman Library, the University needed to supplement student study spaces.

The Brutalist Posvar Hall building was the ideal candidate, with many open circulation spaces. Strada, in concert with the Global Hub Project and the Lecture Hall Renovation project, created a softer, more personal material palette. We designed a great variety of working spaces for individuals and small groups, both in closed areas and open areas. Due to its new variety of seating and work style spaces, the Posvar Commons has become a hub of activity.
