As 2016 draws to a conclusion, Strada bids adieu to three celebrated members of the firm: Principal Robert (Mac) McCauley, Principal Michael Stern, and Associate Ray McCaughey.
After more than 45 years of practicing the art and business of architecture and 31 years as a design principal, Robert (Mac) McCauley is retiring. As a Principal of UJMN and then of Strada, Mac spearheaded the planning and design of numerous influential college, university, real estate, and institutional projects, with a specialized niche in science and technology research parks affiliated with universities seeking to generate economic development. He was a master of both the big picture and the critical detail, and all of us at Strada are grateful to Mac for his leadership and vision.
Following a distinguished career, Michael Stern will be retiring from Strada as well. One of four partners who launched the firm in 2000, Michael orchestrated the expansion of the practice beyond architecture to include landscape architecture, urban design, and master planning services. He headed up significant master planning and landscape projects that encompassed mixed-use developments, campuses, retail corridors, and urban centers. Going forward, Michael’s collaborative, cross-disciplinary model will continue to influence and define Strada’s design process.
Ray McCaughey, who has been an architect at Strada for over 10 years, is also retiring. During a career of 30+ years in architecture, Ray has orchestrated hundreds of retail, commercial, and higher education projects. He is adept at managing the construction of complex facilities and has been a key resource to others in the firm in this regard. As an Associate at Strada, Ray provided valuable continuity and expertise as the manager of projects for repeat clients, including corporations, retailers, and government agencies.
