The Battery continues to prove its’ excellence, as does our team of preservation-minded architects and designers. The 2024 AIA Philadelphia Design Awards, held in November, brought the design world together to celebrate the great projects that enrich Philadelphia’s community and history. Even greater cause for celebration was Strada’s big win!
The Battery received the Honor Award | Historic Preservation/Adaptive Reuse, which is awarded to projects that are sensitive to a building’s history while also sustainably preparing it to serve the future. Our Strada team attended the event at the energetic 2300 Arena, a building with a former life as a freight house that mirrors the impact of architectural change we see with The Battery’s story.

The Battery was recognized for its sensitive adaptive reuse, where modern interventions are thoughtfully balanced with historic preservation. The jury admired how the project retained the original structure’s integrity while creating dynamic, functional spaces. Its design fosters a meaningful dialogue between past and present, offering a layered architectural narrative.
