About Strada

Strada means “street” in Italian. Streets matter to us. They’re the fundamental infrastructure of our cities and the core of our civic lives. They’re the connections between buildings, people, and public spaces. This is why we’re so inspired by them and it’s a shared commitment to these values that brought our principals together. Just as people mingle on city streets, our office is a place where we freely exchange ideas, challenging and inspiring one another to create exceptional work.

A place to think + dream + make + do

About this project

DM+D is a hands-on, civic innovation workshop that provided space, tools, and knowledge to empower citizens to create real and substantial change in their lives and communities. Strada originally designed the 4,400-SF workshop for NextFab Studio as a membership-based gym for innovators with hand tools, 3D printers, computer-controlled machine tools, software, and electronics workbenches. When NextFab outgrew the space, it helped nurture the DM+D. The open maker space brought together expertise in design, fabrication, electronics, and art, to encourage learning through doing for people of all ages.
