The Cup and Chaucer reading room, which derives its name from a Chaucer Manuscript owned by the Library, was carved out of an alcove of the Hillman Library. In service for many years, the coffee shop inside the main library of the University needed a new look and feel to accommodate new programming and meet demand for more cafe-style places to meet and study. The new design creates a variety of seating opportunities, an expanded beverage and snack menu, and makes space for coffeehouse-style entertainment. The display case for the manuscript serves as a performance backdrop for solo musicians and poetry readings.
