Strada is taking active measures to ensure the health of our Team Members and also to assist in fighting the spread of COVID-19. We closed our physical offices in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia on March 17, 2020. We continue to operate remotely while considering CDC guidelines and recommendations to protect our team and clients for a safe reopening. We anticipate returning to our offices this summer, but will update our plans as new information becomes available.

Meetings will continue to be held virtually, via conference call or may be postponed. All of our Team Members will be working remotely under our work-from-home policy. Due to school and business closings, our staff may be active at various times throughout the day and evening. Please bear with us as we make every effort to stay on schedule and in contact with our clients and business colleagues.

About Strada

Strada means “street” in Italian. Streets matter to us. They’re the fundamental infrastructure of our cities and the core of our civic lives. They’re the connections between buildings, people, and public spaces. This is why we’re so inspired by them and it’s a shared commitment to these values that brought our principals together. Just as people mingle on city streets, our office is a place where we freely exchange ideas, challenging and inspiring one another to create exceptional work.

Lab space gets a tune-up

About the project

Converting an automotive engine lab that had been piled to the brim with old boxes and machinery into a high-tech bioimaging facility for Carnegie Mellon University created an opportunity out of disorder. High ceilings and large south-facing windows in this former industrial space frame an environment filled with light, warm colors and contrasting materials. The design team strategically placed the program elements to enhance these qualities and maximize workflow efficiency, creating an ideal space for this specialized work.
