Fresh ideas about design
A new gateway is taking shape at 38th and Market Streets in Philadelphia, which will form a prominent portal to the Science Center and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The 11-story tower is being developed by the Science Center and Wexford Science & Technology. Strada is proud to again serve as the Associate Architect to ZGF Architects. This relationship dates back to a collaboration between Strada and ZGF on the mixed-use expansion of the Science Center at 3711 Market Street in 2008.
The new 300,000-SF facility marks the dramatic expansion of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, adding more than 150,000 SF of state-of-the-art outpatient surgery, treatment, and rehabilitation facilities, including nearly 110 exam rooms, six outpatient operating rooms, and an outpatient radiology center. Ground floor retail space will enliven the streetscape and provide much needed neighborhood amenities. Floors 9-11 will provide expansion space, additional tenant offices and research labs. The building is being designed to achieve LEED-CS Gold certification and is anticipated to be complete in 2014.
